Dear BHS Parents & Guardians,

Welcome to the 2010 Fall sports season. My name is Caitlin O’Connor and I work for Select Physical Therapy as the Athletic Trainer at Berlin High. The purpose of this letter is to notify you of the healthcare available to your student athlete while participating in sports this year at Berlin High School.

I am a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and licensed health care provider employed by Select Physical Therapy in Berlin. I am contracted to care for the student athlete population at Berlin High School (BHS) thirty hours weekly. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT where I had many clinical rotations and responsibilities including football, basketball and soccer, to name a few. I further continued my education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, where I obtained a Masters degree in Sports Management while providing healthcare for Division I football, tennis and baseball athletes.

A Certified Athletic Trainer is an allied health care professional recognized by the state of Connecticut as a licensed health care provider who specializes in the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletically related injuries. Only after passing a three part exam, graduating from an Accredited Institution and obtaining license from the State of Connecticut can someone specify himself/herself as a Certified Athletic Trainer.

This year I, along with the Sports Medicine team at Select Physical Therapy, will provide the most efficient and quality care possible to the Berlin High School athletes. Please feel free to contact me on Monday or Wednesday mornings in the clinic at the number listed below. You may reach me in the Athletic Training Room at BHS in the afternoons at 1(860) 828-8731 x 311. If your athlete needs care at our clinic facility, (860) 827-13333, Lindsay Benson will help schedule appointments, along with our Physical Therapist Bob Becker, PT. If you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact our Sports –Medicine Program Director, Eleni Diakogeorgiou, at our Berlin office. We also offer a 24-hour injury help hotline: 1-877-mobl-med.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this letter. I look forward to working with all of you this upcoming season.

Sincerely,

Caitlin O’Connor, MS, ATC, LAT
